Ding Xuedong

Ding Xuedong (born February 1960 in Changzhou , Jiangsu Province ) has been Chairman and CEO of the China Investment Corporation since 2013 . Before that, he held several positions in the government of the People's Republic of China . From 2008 to 2010 he was Deputy Minister of Finance. He was in the list of the most powerful people in the world by American magazine Forbes in 2016 .

Ding has a Ph.D. in economics from the Finance Ministry's Research Institute of Public Finance. In his previous career, Ding served as general manager of the property rights division and general manager of the human resources division and head of the state asset administration bureau.

He then held several positions in the Ministry of Finance, including Deputy Minister, Director General of the Department of Education, Science and Culture, Director General of the Agriculture Department and Director General of the Department of State Capital Management. Ding also served as Deputy Secretary General of the State Council.

Ding is also the chairman of China International Capital Corporation , a leading Chinese investment bank in which the China Investment Corporation indirectly holds over 40%.
