Things of which is a song by the German punk rock band Die Ärzte . It was released on November 24, 2003 as the second pre-release single from the album noise . It is about the fact that the protagonist doesn't want to know anything about other people's problems and illnesses ("These are things I don't want to know anything about").

Music and lyrics

The song was written by Rodrigo González , the lyrics by Rodrigo González and Donna Blitz, a friend of González, who helped him with the lyrics. The song is revue-like and is accompanied by winds and strings. González also sings the song. At one point Marius Müller-Westernhagen and cocaine consumption are alluded to. ("What are you pulling into your nose / Marius Müller-Easter bunny ...")

Publication and reception

For the release of the single, the band briefly deleted drummer Bela B. from the biography, from all photos, song credits and covers , in a kind of self- deprecating promotional campaign, alluding to Trotsky's denial in the Soviet Union . On the single, the songs Powerlove and What is it all about appeared as the B-side .

The single reached number 14 in Germany, number 33 in Austria and number 68 in Switzerland .

Music video

The music video, which was shown frequently on MTV and VIVA , parodies German television shows from the 1970s and was filmed in black and white and on a reconstructed set of the German game show Dalli Dalli - with the characteristic honeycombs. Even Hans Rosenthal saying "So, we think that was great" and his leap into the air with then temporarily frozen image will be shown and an actor Rosenthal assumes role. During the intro with the Eurovision anthem , shows such as the Beat Club music show from the 1960s are parodied with an announcement by a presenter.

The video exists in two versions. Due to the campaign to release the single, the first was initially only shown with Farin Urlaub and Rod , and the drums were also not occupied. In the second version it was shown in incised scenes as an alleged explanation that Bela B. had forgotten to appear.
