The Diomedes Lake ( English ; Bulgarian езеро Диомед esero Diomed ) is a south-east-northwest orientation 480 m long, 112 m wide and 4.55 hectare large lake on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . On the Byers Peninsula , it is 4.67 km southeast of Essex Point and 1.8 km west-northwest of Varadero Point . In the south it is dominated by Penca Hill and in the northwest by Enrique Hill . The lake is separated from Barclay Bay by a strip of land between 16 and 40 m wide.
The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2020 after King Diomedes from Greek mythology .
