The Varadero Point (English; Spanish Punta Varadero ) is a headland of Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . On the Byers Peninsula , it forms the west side of Baba Tonka Cove and is dominated by the 116 m high Cerro Varadero .
British scientists mapped it in 1968, the Spanish in 1992 and the Bulgarian in 2005 and 2009. The Spanish varadero means shipyard and alludes allegorically to the numerous icebergs stranding here .
