Dionisis Karatzas
Dionisis Karatzas ( Greek Διονύσης Καρατζάς Dionysis Karatzas , * 1950 in Patras ) is a Greek poet .
Life
Dionisis Karatzas studied at the Philosophical Faculty of Athens University and began his professional career as a teacher. Dionisis Karatzas worked at various high schools in the Peloponnese . Today he is the deputy director of a high school in Patras.
His entry into the Greek literary scene was in 1972 with the volume of poetry Dawn on Earth . Since then Karatzas has published several volumes of poetry, and his poetry has long been considered unmistakable in the literary landscape of his homeland. The collaboration with the composer Mikis Theodorakis was therefore no coincidence. Theodorakis has set several poems from various cycles by Dionisis Karatzas to music (“Faces of the Sun”, “Like an Ancient Wind”). Projects with other composers followed, such as B. with Ilias Andrianopoulos and most recently with Giorgos Andreou . The German audience is already familiar with poems by Dionisis Karatzas through the song cycle Poetica by Mikis Theodorakis, sung by Maria Farantouri .
