The Diphros is a stool with four mostly turned legs. It is a seat of the gods and heroes as well as simple people. He is known from many representations of ancient art. The first representations can be found in pictures from geometric vase painting . Well-known representations can also be found on the west frieze of the Siphni treasure house in Delphi and the east frieze of the Parthenon . It can often be found in workshop scenes. The Diphros can be made from simple wood as well as from expensive ebony. Diphroi with silver feet are also known from the treasure lists of the Parthenon. A special form of the dipro is a folding chair whose legs end in animal claws. The Klismos is a more sophisticated form of antique seating furniture .
