Direction du Renseignement Militaire

Direction du Renseignement Militaire ( DRM ; German Military Intelligence Service ) is the military intelligence service of France , which was founded on June 16, 1992. The DRM reports directly to the Ministry of Defense . The establishment of the DRM was a reaction to the end of the Cold War and was significantly promoted by intelligence errors in the context of the Second Gulf War.
The headquarters of the organization is located in Paris .

Its tasks are reconnaissance and defense with the aid of electronic reconnaissance (including satellite reconnaissance). He does not have his own action troops among his employees - the tasks are mainly limited to evaluation and analysis. The organization is therefore dependent on information gathering from other intelligence services such as the BRGE .
