Dirk Raufeisen (* 1966 in Hanau ) is a German jazz pianist.

Career

Raufeisen received his first piano lessons at the age of eight. As an accompanying pianist for Lady Bass and the Real Gone Guys , he worked with Lindy Huppertsberg (b), Ron Ringwood (voc) and Tommie Harris (dr). He made contact with national and international jazz greats at the age of 22 when he was given the opportunity in this formation in 1988 to take part in the annual Hot Jazz Festival at Sea . Also in 1988 he joined the Frankfurt big band Memories and the Offenbach Leathertown jazz band . He appeared several times with the band Kreisjazzwerkerschaft and Rose Nabinger .

Since 1990 he has been part of Ron Ringwood's Gospel Five , which emerged from the Lady Bass Quartet. He recorded his debut album Lord I Thank You with the singer Martha Cambridge . In 1991 Raufeisen received the first prize at the Hessian state competition Jugend jazzt . In 1992, Dirk Raufeisen and the double bass player Götz Ommert founded the Jazzfingers duo, which later became a trio .

Since 1994 he played with the drummer Charly Antolini and the bass player Jimmy Woode in the band Super-Trio , which released 2 CDs. Since 1995 he has been part of the International Gospel Five formation and has been organizing gospel workshops with Martha Cambridge and Tommie Harris in Switzerland and Germany since 1997. With Lillian Boutté he recorded the Christmas program When You Wish upon a Star (1997). Since 1999 he has been working with the chanson singer Nanette Scriba , with whom he has also recorded three albums. With the Dutch singer Greetje Kauffeld , he developed the program “A Lovely Way to Spend an Evening” in 2002. Since 2005, Dirk Raufeisen has played with bassist Lindy Huppertsberg and drummer Carola Gray in the trio Two for One . He later performed with the Red Hot Hotttentots and directed his own big band.

Raufeisen was awarded the Wetteraukreis Culture Prize in 2002.
