Götz Ommert

Götz Ommert (born March 12, 1960 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German jazz bassist .

Ommert, son of the jazz pianist Horst Ommert, first learned the piano before switching to the electric bass at the age of 17 ; later, due to the influence of Ray Brown and Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen , he played the double bass . He made his first appearances with his father, in whose band he met Conny Jackel , John Oslawski and Wilson de Oliveira . From 1982 he worked with Christoph Neubronner , Frank Runhof , Harry Petersen , Peter Ponzol , Wolfgang Lauth , Flip Gehring and Gustl Mayer . He formed a trio with Dirk Raufeisen and Thomas Cremer , who recorded several albums (partly with saxophonist Barbara Ehlich), and a duo with Jürgen Schwab . Between 1985 and 2004 he had various appearances with the Dirk Raufeisen Trio and Gospel at the ZDF Sunday Concert , at Südwestfunk and Hessischer Rundfunk . Since 1994 he has appeared several times at the Ascona Jazz Festival , in 1995 at the International Jazz Festival at Sea, but also at other festivals in Germany and France. Since 2004 Götz Ommert bass in the Blue Moon Orchestra of Marco Plitzner . In addition to his work as a jazz musician, Ommert runs a recording studio .
