Flip Gehring
Flip Gehring (born June 28, 1929 - † August 9, 2013 ) was a Dutch jazz musician ( vibraphone , piano , also tenor saxophone ) who lived in the Rhine-Main area for a long time.
Gehring was part of Helmut Weglinski's sextet for eleven years , with whom he recorded in six recording sessions between 1956 and 1966 for the labels Columbia, Brunswick, Amiga and Philips. He also acted there as a clarinetist, guitarist and drummer when required. He has led his own bands since the 1970s. Wolfgang Dohl also used his trio to make recordings for his Lufthansa Swing Party , which was available at the airline for on-board entertainment. He repeatedly played in the shellac Party of Alexander Loulakis which also hr4 aired. Siggi Gerhard and the French trumpeter Patrick Artero also belonged to his Swingtette , with whom he toured regionally and performed at the Rödermark jazz club . He also performed with the Dietrich Geldern Swingtett and the New Orleans Connection Jazz Band , with whom he also toured internationally.
