Harry Petersen
Harry Petersen (* 1946 in Chicago ) is an American jazz musician ( alto saxophone , clarinet ).
Career
Petersen grew up in Denver and had lessons from Carlo Minetti, among others. During school he played in school orchestras. He graduated from the University of Minnesota , where he co-founded the university's jazz ensemble. As a professional musician, he made experiences in rock, show and jazz bands in Minnesota such as the Orchestra Hall Big Band , the Wolverines Classic Jazz Orchestra and the Carlton Show Room Orchestra . Between 1979 and 2011 he was the lead alto in the hr big band , with whom he was involved in numerous productions and albums. He also led his own quartet. In 1986 he was one of the founders of the Frankfurt Jazz Big Band , which he initially directed and with which he recorded several albums. He can also be heard as a soloist on records from the Roland Schneider Orchestra . He also performed with Melanie Bong in the Frankfurt-Cologne Connection .
