Dirk Schachtsiek

Dirk Schachtsiek (born November 4, 1965 ) is a German fistball player . During his active time, Dirk Schachtsiek was considered the best fistball player in the world and was voted "European fistball player of the century".

Athletic career

Schlagmann Schachtsiek won 17 national titles with TSV Hagen 1860 in the active field: Between 1986 and 2001 he won ten German championship titles in the field and seven times the title of German champion in indoor fistball. In the European Indoor Cup between 1989 and 2001, the trophy always went to Schachtsiek and his team. In addition to these twelve titles, they were able to bring another seven European Cup victories in the field. The Schachtsiek era and that of Hagen supremacy ended in 2002 with the third World Cup victory.

Schachtsiek also achieved numerous successes on an international level. He became world champion four times (1986, 1990, 1992, 1995), more often than any other fistball player. At the World Games he took first place twice with the German national team: The victory at the World Games 1989 in Karlsruhe was followed four years later by successfully defending his title in The Hague . When Germany won the European Championship in Austria in 1988 and Walldürn in Baden in 1994 , Schachtsiek was also part of the German squad. His international career came to an end on September 2, 1995 with the 83rd international match, when the German fistball men won their ninth consecutive world championship title in Windhoek (Namibia). Final opponents Switzerland were beaten 2-0 sets.

Including the youth and age group, Dirk Schachtsiek was German champion a total of 24 times. When the German Fistball League (DFBL) was founded in 2004, he took over the office of Vice President.

In 2009 he was in Monte Carlo ( Argentina ) with TSV Hagen world game winner in the M35 class.

Private

After completing his studies at the University of Dortmund , Schachtsiek traveled through Australia for several months. Then the business graduate took over his father's company.

Dirk Schachtsiek's wife Andrea used to play with Lüneburg in the Lower Saxony state league. Their sons Ole (born in 1996) and Jan (born in 1999) are now also on the fistball field for TSV Hagen 1860. Schachtsiek's father-in-law is Manfred Lux, the editor of Fistball Information.

The moderator and commentator Frank Buschmann was one of Dirk Schachtsiek's schoolmates.
