Discipline. is an American progressive rock band that was formed in Detroit in 1987 .
Band history
When Parmenter, Bouda, Kennedy and Dzendzel formed the band , they were still in high school. They soon made a name for themselves in Detroit for their live performances, which Parmenter performed in changing costumes in the spirit of Peter Gabriel . In the first few years they also recorded a few demos before the 1993 debut album Push & Profit was released. Although the band name was reminiscent of King Crimson's album Discipline , Discipline became. rather compared to Van der Graaf Generator , Genesis and Marillion .
The debut was followed by a short tour in Norway, otherwise the band toured extensively in the United States in the 1990s. a. with Ozric Tentacles , Steve Howe , Anecdotes , Present and echolyn . In 1997 the second album was released, in 1999 a live album. Parmenter put down discipline. from 2001, however, on hold for a few years because he wanted to pursue a solo career. The original line-up came back together for NEARfest 2008 and released a new album in 2011. For the band's 25th anniversary, the first demo was reissued, the fourth album followed in 2017.
