Disco Inferno is a song by The Trammps . It is part of the fourth studio album of the same name from 1976. The song was part of the soundtrack of the film Saturday Night Fever . The following release as a single reached number 11 on the American Billboard Hot 100 in 1977 . In 2005 the song was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame . The song was covered by Tina Turner, among others, as part of the soundtrack for Tina - What's Love Got to Do with It? and Cyndi Lauper in A Night at the Roxbury .

The Independent describes the song as "one of the most memorable and successful dancefloor fillers of any era".

The words "burn baby burn" - the beginning of each line of the refrain - relating both to the disaster movie The Towering Inferno and the race riots in Los Angeles 1965th
