The Disibodenbergerhof is below the former Disibodenberg situated living space in the area of the city Odernheim am Glan in Rhineland-Palatinate . The historic buildings of the Disibodenbergerhof are under monument protection .

history

After the secularization of the Disibodenberg monastery in 1559 by the Duchy of Palatinate-Zweibrücken , a conductor who initially lived on the monastery grounds was employed to manage the former monastery property . The proceeds from the management should be used to finance the state school established by Duke Wolfgang in Hornbach . In 1606, the monastery conductor Georg Kessler also leased the farm yard, which had previously been administered separately, and moved the seat of the monastery shop there in order to better supervise his servants. In 1608 he had a new courtyard house built, but died that same year.

In 1768 the Schultheisserei Odernheim with the monastery and the Disibodenbergerhof came to the Electoral Palatinate as part of an area swap . After the French occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in the course of the First Coalition War in 1794, the area was incorporated into the French Republic in 1798 .

In 1801, the monastery complex and the farmyard from French national property were auctioned. Buyers were the previous tenants of the farm, which had been divided since 1734. The southern part of the farm has been owned by the family since 1704 (initially as a tenant), while the northern part, including the ruins of the monastery, changed hands several times; a winery is located there today.

description

The Disibodenbergerhof today comprises three farms with well-preserved farm buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, which are arranged around a courtyard that is paved with cobblestones. The entrance to the courtyard is through the archway of a late classicist house built around 1850. To the side of it is a transverse barn with a crooked hip roof and another archway. On another farm building to the left of today's courtyard entrance is a stone with an inscription from 1608. It indicates that the leaseholder Georg Kessler had the building erected.

To the north of the third courtyard there is a museum on the history of the monastery in a modern building, which is maintained by the Scivias Foundation.
