The special is presented by a fabric pumpkin doll who briefly explains what can be seen in the following excerpt before each clip. An orange version of the 1929 Silly Symphonies cartoon The Skeleton Dance is shown in the opening and closing credits . Pictures from Disney's Haunted Mansion Ride are also shown. The lyrics are by Galen R. Brandt , the theme music by John Debney .

The special came out on VHS in the United States in 1984 . To date, neither the German nor the English version has been released on DVD .

SuperRTL Halloween Special Night

In 2001, a Halloween Special Night was broadcast on Super RTL for the first time as part of the "SuperRTL Special Night" program window. It was an evening on which scary films or scary episodes from series were shown, such as The Witch and the Wizard , Doug (S04 E04 - Doug's Scary Adventure) or Dr. Seuss (The Grinch comes on Halloween). Disney's fantastic Halloween festival was also broadcast with a few changes: It was decided to create a computer-animated pumpkin especially for the Halloween Special Night, which accompanies the audience through the program and announces commercial breaks. Since a fabric pumpkin doll also acts as the moderator in the original version of Disney's fantastic Halloween festival published in 1982, all scenes of the fabric pumpkin doll have been replaced by the animated pumpkin.
