! distain , also called distain , is a German synthpop band. It was named distain! In 1992 . founded. After two of the three founding members left the band in 2003, they changed their name to ! Distain .

history

Alexander Braun, Oliver Faig and Sebastian von Wyschetzki from Augsburg founded a band in 1992 dedicated to the synthesizer . A demo tape that was created at the "Pop Albert" competition for young talent was very well received by Chrom Records. At the end of 1994 the trio received their first record deal with Chrom Records. A few months later, the band released their first album Cement Garden . The album [li: quíd] followed in 1996 and Homesick Alien two years later . In 2002 Manfred Thomaser joined the band. In 2003 Oliver Faig and Sebastian von Wyschetzki left distain! .

Alexander Braun and Manfred Thomaser continued their work as a duo with a slightly different band name and started performing again in 2004 after a four-year break. After appearing in the Hanover Capitol , international appearances in Moscow, Madrid and Bratislava followed. In the same year, the album 25 Frames a Second was released . Rick Prokein has supported the band at concerts since 2005, but did not become a permanent member until 2011. In 2007 and 2010 the albums Raise the Level and Anthology were released 1992-2010 . In 2011! Distain switched to the music label Echozone . In 2012 and 2014 she was the opening act for the band And One several times . In 2014! Distain performed at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen and one year later opened the Amphi Festival with a concert on the MS Rheinenergie . The band's ninth album, Rainbow Skies At Night , was released in 2015. In April 2016, Rick left the band to devote himself to his own projects.
