Division I (chess) 1982/83

The 1982/83 season was the 14th season of the Allsvenskan in chess.

Division I Norra

In the north season, the promoted Vällingby Schacksällskap prevailed. Second place, on the other hand, was hard fought. It was not only Upsala ASS , last year's champions SK Rockaden Stockholm and Solna Schacksällskap tied for team points, Upsala and Rockaden had even earned the same number of board points. Since the direct comparison ended 4: 4, the number of points on the first four boards just decided in favor of Upsala. In addition to Vällingby, Västerås ASK was promoted from Division II . This also achieved relegation, but had to relegate the SK SASS (in the previous year still participant in the final tournament) and the Luleå Schacksällskap .

Division I Södra

In the southern season, the Jönköpings Schacksällskap and Limhamns SK qualified for the final tournament just before Åstorps Schacksällskap and the promoted Schacksällskap Allians Skänninge . In addition to Skänninge, Helsingborgs Schacksällskap was promoted from Division II , which together with last year's winner Lundby Schacksällskap was directly relegated.

Final tournament

The final tournament took place in Västerås from April 15th to 17th . After Limhamns SK won the first two rounds, a 4: 4 against bottom Vällingby Schacksällskap was enough for him to win the Swedish team championship.
