Division I (chess) 1983/84

The 1983/84 season was the 15th season of the Allsvenskan in chess.

Events

The preliminary round competitions took place on October 23, November 20, December 11, 1983, January 22, February 12, March 4 and 25, 1984.

Division I Norra

In the northern season, SK Rockaden Stockholm was able to prevail. Wasa SK secured second place in the final tournament, just ahead of Vällingby Schacksällskap and Upsala ASS , which had taken the top two places last year. Akademiska SK Uppsala and SK Passanten were promoted from Division II . While the SK Passanten achieved relegation, Uppsala and Västerås ASK had to relegate directly.

Division I Södra

In the southern season, the reigning champions Limhamns SK had to be content with second place behind Schacksällskapet Manhem , but still managed to qualify for the final tournament. From the Division II of were Eksjö SK and Lunds ASK ascended. While Lund managed to stay in the league, Eksjö had to relegate together with last year's winner Jönköpings Schacksällskap .

Final tournament

The final tournament took place in Stockholm from April 6th to 8th . The SK Rockaden defeated all three rivals and became a Swedish team champion.
