The national division (chess) 2015/16 was the top division of the Luxembourg team championship in chess.
The champion was the defending champion De Sprénger Echternach , Luxembourg 1915 and the second team of Gambit Bonnevoie were promoted from the Promotion d'honneur . While Luxembourg achieved relegation in 1915, Bonnevoies second team had to relegate directly. In purely sporting terms, the team from Esch Rochade Reine would also have been relegated, but they remained in the national division due to Cercle d'échecs Philidor Dommeldange-Beggen's waiver of promotion.
The tournament was divided into a preliminary round and a final round. The eight participating teams first played a simple round-robin tournament . The first four played for the title in Poule Haute , the last four in Poule Basse against relegation. The total of the team points (2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a defeat), then the direct comparison and then the number of board points (3 points for a win, 2 points for a Draw, 1 point for a loss, 0 points for a loss without a fight). For the final placement, both the points from the preliminary round and the points from the final round were taken into account.
Game dates
The competitions were held on September 27, October 11, November 15 and 29, December 13, 2015, January 10 and 31, February 21, March 6 and 20, 2016. The last round was held centrally in Bad Mondorf played, the previous rounds took place decentrally at the clubs involved.
While Bonnevoie's second team was already relegated two rounds before the end, the decision about the second relegated team was only made in the last round. However, this proved to be irrelevant, since the runner-up of the Promotion d'honneur, Cercle d'échecs Philidor Dommeldange-Beggen, renounced the promotion, so that the penultimate of the national division remained in the class.
