Dixie Dregs

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dixie Dregs are a fusion band that was formed in the 1970s. The mostly instrumental music also contains many influences from jazz , southern rock , bluegrass and classical music in a very technical but always virtuoso unique direction.

Unlike in the United States of America , the Dixie Dregs are relatively unknown in Europe . Many people are familiar with the band thanks to the main composer and guitar virtuoso Steve Morse , who has enjoyed increasing popularity since joining the hard rock band Deep Purple . Other important members are or were: Andy West ( bass ), Dave LaRue (bass), Allen Sloan ( violin ), Rod Morgenstein ( drums ), T Lavitz ( keyboard ), Jordan Rudess (keyboard), Jerry Goodman (violin) and others

For a while the band was known just as The Dregs .
