Diya Mirza (also Dia Mirza ; Hindi : दिया मिर्ज़ा, Diyā Mirzā ; born December 9, 1981 in Hyderabad , Andhra Pradesh ) is an Indian Bollywood actress and model .

biography

Mirza's father, Frank Handrich, was a German interior designer . Her mother, Deepa Mirza, is Bengali . Her parents separated when Diya was six years old. Her father died three years later and her mother married Ahmed Mirza, whose last name took Diya. Ahmed Mirza died in 2004.

She attended high school in Hyderabad and later the Nasr School in Kushnuma . Today she lives in Bandra , Mumbai .

In 2000 she was named Miss Asia Pacific . She was also third in the Miss India 2000 election. First was Lara Dutta, who won the subsequent Miss Universe election, and at the same time won the Vice-Miss India 2000, Priyanka Chopra, the Miss World title.

She made her film debut with the film Rehna Hai Terre Dil Mein , which was a failure. Other unsuccessful films followed. It was not until 2005 that she initially played smaller roles in larger productions, including Parineeta - The Girl from Neighbors' Garden (2005).
