Dmitri Gennadjewitsch Gutow ( Russian Дмитрий Геннадьевич Гутов , mostly in the transcription Dmitri Gutov ; born December 10, 1960 in Moscow ) is a Russian artist.

life and work

Dmitri Gutow studied art, sculpture and architecture at the Art Academy in St. Petersburg . In his work he takes a critical position on Western modernism and contemporary art . He places himself in the tradition of Soviet art of the 1920s and 1930s, and refers in particular to the Marxist art theorist Michail Lifschitz (1905–1983). Gutow works with painting, installation, photography and video.
