Dmitri Zwetkow ( Russian Дмитрий Цветков ; born September 23, 1968 in Leningrad , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and current coach. Since August 2009 he has been under contract with the Dinslaken Kobras in the Regionalliga NRW as head coach.

Career

Dmitri Zwetkow began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown at SKA Leningrad , for whose professional team he was active from 1987 to 1995 in the Soviet ice hockey league and then the Russian Super League . After spending the 1996/97 season in Sweden at Skellefteå AIK in Division 1 , which was still second class at the time , he played the following year and a half in I divisioona , the second Finnish division, for Kärpät Oulu and SaPKo Savonlinna . However, he left Savonlinna after just 14 games in the 1999/2000 season to be on the ice for the ERC Selb in the Oberliga Süd for the following year and a half .

From 2001 to 2003 Zwetkow played for the upper division EV Füssen and EC Ulm / Neu-Ulm , before he was under contract for five years in the fourth-class regional league at Herner EV and EHC Dortmund . With Dortmund, the Russian won two regional league championships in 2007 and 2008, but both times he and his team missed promotion to the league in the playoffs. For the 2008/09 season he moved to their league rivals Dinslaken Kobras , where he ended his active career at the end of the season at the age of 40. He then took over the post of head coach at the Cobras.
