Live and act

Dmitry Badiarov received his first violin lessons from Semyon Ziskind in his home country at the age of eight. From the age of 15 he moved to Leningrad , where he studied modern violin with Mark Kommisarov and Oleg Shoulpiakov at the conservatory there. At an early age he received parallel training in violin making in his place of birth from Vladimir Oiberman and, from the age of 19, from Vladimir Yakimenko. After his military service he studied baroque violin with Sigiswald Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels and historically informed performance practice with Peter Van Heyghen . Since 1995 he has worked as a violinist in numerous baroque ensembles, such as "Il Fondamento", "Mito dell'Arco Quartet", "The Hague Baroque", Bach Collegium Japan , the Canadian ensemble "Les Boréades", "Il Gardellino", "Les Talens Lyriques ”or as concertmaster at“ Les Muffatti ”, he was also part of the regular cast of La Petite Bande and the Ricercar Consort under Philippe Pierlot for several years .

In 1997 Badiarov took part in a master class at the violin making school in Milan for five months and then developed his own philosophy by merging violin making and historical performance practice, which also led to his personal violin making style on the basis of historical documentation.

Violoncello da Spalla

Together with Sigiswald Kuijken he is an active protagonist of the violoncello da spalla , which he reconstructed in his Brussels workshop in 2004 on the basis of historical descriptions. Through constant further development of the instrument, also in close cooperation with the Italian string manufacturer Mimmo Peruffo (Aquila), he perfected the sound aesthetics and balance of the instrument, of which around 15 are now played by musicians, many of whom come from the La Petite gang . Since 2004 he has appeared as a soloist on this instrument in Japan, Mexico and numerous European countries.

Also on behalf of the Kuijkens, he made a set of baroque violins and violas that correspond to the construction of the Schütz period .

Badiarov lived and worked in Tokyo for several years , during which time he was a visiting professor at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and taught historically informed violin making at a violin making school in Tokyo. Dmitry Badiarov currently lives and works in The Hague.

In addition to several dozen CD recordings with the ensembles listed above, Badiarov recorded the solo suites BWV 1007-1012 by Johann Sebastian Bach on the cello da Spalla for the Ramée label in 2009 . The recording was awarded the German Record Critics' Prize.
