Title, goals, design

The full title is: DOCAT What to do? The Social Doctrine of the Church . The work was published by the Austrian Bishops' Conference , the approval was granted by the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization with the consent of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith . The part of the name “Do” is derived from the English verb “to do”, the second part “cat” refers to the word catechism (“catechism”). Based on the social teaching of the church, the book is intended to encourage young people to become more involved in social and political issues.

The book was published by the Youcat Foundation and is very similar in layout and presentation ( Ypsilon on the book cover), book size and text design to the sister project, the Catholic youth catechism Youcat . Instead of the Youcat's characteristic papal yellow cover , the Docat has the identification color sky blue within the row .

26 authors wrote the docat under the guidance of Christoph Cardinal Schönborn and Reinhard Cardinal Marx . Bernhard Meuser was responsible for project management , and Alexander von Lengerke provided the illustrations. The Docat was presented to the public on World Youth Day 2016 in Krakow.
