Light blue is the name of a group of colors used to denote different hues , brightnesses and color saturations, as well as nuances of blue . "Light blue" is the name for light, medium to brightly colored shades of blue. Achromatic, light blue tones are called gray- blue .

Light blue has a fine green tint, for example like the borage blossom , copper sulphate (copper vitriol), or the sky in the morning (when the red components of the sunlight are filtered out more strongly. See why is the sky blue? ). RAL value is RAL 5012.

Colorants
Generally the color is lighter than mountain blue or cobalt blue . Aniline blue can also serve as the starting dye for production. In the Middle Ages, the color was mixed from indigo , white lead and water. This creates a delicate, gentle cool blue. Since the middle of the 20th century it has mostly been obtained from cobalt blue or Berlin blue by dilution or with a phthalocyanine blue .

Sky blue (not instead of sky blue ) denotes neutral to slightly warm blue pastel tones .

In the RAL color system , sky blue is standardized as RAL 5015; RAL 5023 distant blue stands for a slightly warmer shade . A common name is, for example , baby blue , according to the choice of color for male babies .

The human visual cells for blue process a very narrow band of the light spectrum , so the eye is sensitive to red components in blue. One color is either blue or purple , there is no distinct mixed tone. Lilac blue should be the expression that the effect is not so pronounced in the less strongly colored area.
