Dockstavarvet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dockstavarvet shipyard in Docksta , Sweden , was founded in 1905. Specialized in aluminum shipbuilding, the shipyard mainly produces boats for work, pilotage or military use.

history

In 1905, the shipyard built its first boats under the name N & C Sundins Båtbyggeri , which were mostly made of wood until the 1960s. In addition to ferries and private yachts, work boats in particular were built for commercial purposes. Boats have been made of aluminum in Docksta since 1969 .

The shipyard today

In 2000, after the Swedish Navy withdrew from the island of Rindö , Dockstavarvet took over the site and the local repair company Rindö Marine AB , which still maintains speedboats of the Swedish Navy to this day. In 2000 Dockstavarvet also took over Rindö, the main repair shop for the Swedish CB90.

The shipyard's most successful product, also internationally, is the Combat Boat 90 , which was also used on loan from the German water police . The CB90 is the main product of this shipyard, around 300 of which have been built since 1991. Since 2013, the Russian Pella shipyard , which is based near Saint Petersburg, has been building the Russian combat boat 03160 “Raptor”, which looks similar to the CB90. However, there is no evidence that Dockstavarvet was involved in the project or that it granted a license to Pella Shipyard.

Another focus of production are pilot boats , six of which are in the Alupilot 17M class and are also used by the German pilot association.
