Documenta Natura was a non-profit foundation initiated and managed by Roger Huber . This existed from 1987 to July 2010; The purpose was to photograph changes in the Swiss landscape .

Professional photographers photographed landscapes in which construction, transport and tourism projects were implemented, before and after construction from the same perspective. The foundation also produced photo reports on a wide variety of environmental issues. A total of 50,000 photographs were taken.

The foundation mainly worked with the following photographers:

  • Athanasiou Nadja
  • Balogh Istvan
  • Huber Roger
  • Kobi Hans
  • Lüem Peter
  • Rickli Hannes
  • Santschi Hans
  • Schibig Marco
  • Stucki Hans

The financing was partly provided by the client (companies, offices, institutions) and partly by the Federal Office for the Environment . Initially, the foundation received 90,000 francs annually from the Federal Office for the Environment. After the latter had canceled its contributions as part of austerity measures, the office in Bern was closed in July 2010 and handed over to the picture archive of the ETH Library in Zurich . A parliamentary motion calling for the Swiss Confederation to continue funding was recommended for rejection by the Federal Council on May 26, 2010.
