The Dog River ( English for "Dog River") (also University River ) is a tributary of the Upper Lake in the Algoma District in Ontario ( Canada ).
The headwaters of the Dog River are located on Hammer Lake. It flows through several lakes in the upper reaches, including Obatanga Lake and Knife Lake in Obatanga Provincial Park . The Dog River flows mainly in a southerly direction and flows into Lake Superior about 25 km west of Wawa . The Dog River has a length of 65 km. It is a remote white water river with rapids of difficulty levels I-IV. The lower reaches of the Dog River is in Nimoosh Provincial Park . Not far from the mouth, the river overcomes the 40 m high Denison Falls .
