Doka is a supplier and manufacturer of formwork and scaffolding . The headquarters of the company, founded in 1958, is located in Amstetten in Lower Austria and is 100% part of the Umdasch Group. Doka employs 7,400 people worldwide in 160 sales and logistics locations in 70 countries (as of 2019). With the exception of the three-layer panels, production takes place in the central plant in Amstetten. The three-layer panels are manufactured in the branch in Banská Bystrica . The range of services provided by Doka ranges from the provision of formwork systems and components for civil building construction to the provision of technically sophisticated and flexible formwork systems for bridge construction, tunnel construction, infrastructure construction and high-rise construction. In addition, Doka formwork systems are used for architecturally demanding fair-faced concrete projects that value a special concrete appearance.

Current reference projects by Doka include the Varso Tower in Warsaw / Poland, the Voest Bridge in Linz / Austria, the Katara Towers hotel complex in Qatar, the E4 Bypass Stockholm infrastructure project in Sweden and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida / USA.

The name "Doka" is derived from the Austrian Danube power plants ( DOKW for short , pronounced do-ka-weh), for which the first formwork panels were supplied in the 1950s.

history

In 1958 the Austrian company Doka was founded and three years later the German subsidiary. In 1965 the company developed a large-area formwork with only three system parts and in 1971 the first climbing formwork. In 1977 branches were opened in Brazil and Kuwait . In 1985, the Framax panel formwork system came onto the market. In 1990, a dedicated research and development center was set up in Amstetten, which continuously deals with the testing of new materials (e.g. concrete formulations) and the development of future-oriented products and services.

In 1999 Doka achieved sales of ATS 5 billion for the first time. In 2002 Doka took over the US formwork manufacturer Conesco. In 2012, Doka further developed the slab formwork systems on the market and launched the new Dokadek 30 element slab formwork. In 2015, Doka took over the manufacture of formwork panels from Wiehag .

In 2004, the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa , was erected in Dubai using Doka formwork . In 2016, with the takeover of the technology company B | A | S, digitization became part of Doka's business model. In 2018, Doka celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Umdasch Group together with its parent company.

The subway in Sydney has been expanded with tunnel formwork from Doka since 2019 .

The Doka product range includes formwork systems for walls and ceilings as well as climbing and self-climbing formwork. In addition, shoring as well as working and protective scaffolding are manufactured.

In addition to the manufacture and sale of formwork and scaffolding, Doka also takes on the rental and maintenance of all necessary parts if required. Other services include special formwork construction and the implementation of training courses.

Another mainstay of Doka are digital solutions for increasing productivity in construction. These range from automated formwork planning on the BIM standard (DokaCAD for Revit) to intelligent assistance systems such as the Remote Instructor or Smart Pouring through to digital cycle planning and performance monitoring. Customer service and material management are provided with the myDoka and myDoka + platforms.
