Dolmen Peyre d'Ermale
The so-called dolmen Peyre d'Ermale of Paussac-et-Saint-Vivien in the Dordogne department in France is a pseudodolmen . It is also known as "Pierre à sacrifice Peyre d'Ermale" or "Peyre Dermale" and has been classified as a Monument historique since 1992 .
It consists of two elements. The lower one is an outcrop with an elevation on one side, in whose vertical limestone a false door was carved at some point . The elevation has the shape of a truncated cone with a base of 19 m² and an average height of 1.75 m. A 0.25 m deep basin (similar to a porthole ) with a diameter of 0.8 m has been pecked on the surface of the rock outcrop . Rainwater is collected on the surface and fed into the deepening in a channel. In order to give the monument the character of a dolmen , a second stone is required, which is on the edge above the north side. It is roughly triangular, measures 3.5 × 1.9 m, is 1.25 m high and takes up about half the area of its base stone. There is another artificial basin nearby, but it is younger and deeper than the other.
Nearby is the Peyrelevade dolmen .
