The Dolmen de la Prunarède is a megalithic complex on the Causse du Larzac plateau in the Cevennes in France . In Saint-Maurice-Navacelles in the Hérault department in the Occitanie region , a road branches off that leads to the dolmen . In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ). Dolmens are prehistoric megalithic structures that were mainly built between 4,500 and 3,000 BC in Europe and other parts of the world. It consisted of horizontal stone slabs that rested on vertical ones.

In 2011 excavations took place at the dolmen. The side vertical panels of the chamber are 1.8 meters long. The dolmen is one meter wide and has a ceiling slab that protrudes on all sides and weighs more than 8 tons. The dolmen was originally covered with a rectangular cairn about 12 meters on a side.
