The dolmen was discovered in 1928 and first mentioned in 1934 by A. Poilane. In 1935 he carried out excavations on the exposed parts of the dolmen. He discovered a few ceramic fragments that were believed to have been taken to the Cholet Museum .

The recessed dolmen is about 6.0 m long and only 1.0 m wide. It consists of five orthostats on the north side and six on the south side as well as the ceiling plate. Six other small plates can be seen nearby. Erected on the edge, they formed an oval structure on the south side of the dolmen.

The dolmen was listed as a historical monument in 1991.

The megalithic complexes Dolmen de la Boire de Champtocé and Dolmen du Champ-du-Ruisseau are nearby.
