Leopold von Kaisenberg

Johann Christoph Leopold von Kaisenberg (born January 31, 1766 in Nesselröden , † November 11, 1835 in Heiligenstadt ) was a German landowner, lawyer, civil servant and member of parliament.

Life

Von Kaisenberg was the son of the Imperial staff captain Hugo Ferdinand Kaisenberg (1706–1779) and his wife Elisabeth von Horn. He was of a Catholic denomination and married Katharina von Prenczis on August 19, 1789 in Heiligenstadt (* August 6, 1760, † November 22, 1826). He was the master of Nesselröden, Rusteberg , Steinheuterode and Uder . On August 24, 1797, the imperial nobility was confirmed and renewed.

From 1784 he studied law in Göttingen and then in 1789 was electoral Mainz secret cabinet secretary and electoral Mainz court councilor. From 1790 he was government councilor of the Electoral Secular State in Eichsfeld and from the end of 1793 a member of the Electoral Secret State Cabinet in the High Kurmainzischen Secular State, also Princely Worms Court and Government Councilor. In 1799 he became director of the government and higher regional court in Heiligenstadt and city governor in Duderstadt with the title of a real secret council .

According to the resolutions of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , Eichsfeld was incorporated into the Kingdom of Prussia as the Principality of Eichsfeld . In 1803, von Kaisenberg became director of the Royal Prussian Provincial Justice Authority of the government and of the pupil college for Eichsfeld and Erfurt and, in 1805, Vice President of the Royal Prussian Government in Erfurt . In 1805 he became Vice President and Chief President of the Royal Prussian Government in Erfurt. From 1807 he was a member of the Academy of Fine Arts and Sciences in Erfurt.

During the French period he was justice of the peace in Duderstadt from 1808 and President of the Tribunal of First Instance in Heiligenstadt from 1808 to 1813. From 1808 to 1813 member of the departmental electoral college of the Harz department . From June 2nd, 1808 to October 26th, 1813 he was a member of the imperial estates of the Kingdom of Westphalia for the Harz department and the landowner electoral group. In 1809, he served as President of the Criminal Legislation Commission. On February 20, 1810 he was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of the Westphalian Crown .

After the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, von Kaisenberg was from 1813 to 1819 Second President of the Royal Prussian Higher Regional Court in Emmerich and from 1819 President of the Royal Prussian Higher Regional Court in Halberstadt . Between 1820 and 1830 he was President of the Mainz Central Investigative Commission formed after the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna . In 1830 he retired and returned to the Rusteberg in Eichsfeld.

From October 2, 1828 to October 2, 1834 he was a member of the provincial parliament of the province of Saxony for the knighthood of the Eichsfeld district. He was awarded the 3rd Class Red Eagle Order and the Guelph Order (Commander).
