The Rusteberg Castle

The Rusteberg castle belongs to the municipality Marth in the district of Eichsfeld in Thuringia .

location

The Amtshaus Schloss Rusteberg is located at the southeastern foot of the Rusteberg below the Rusteberg castle ruins about nine kilometers west of Heilbad Heiligenstadt . To the south of the Leinetal , the federal highway 80 and the parallel Halle-Kassel railway line run through the western Eichsfeld . The federal highway 38 also passes not far to the north .

history

With the relocation of the Oberamt and Regional Court of the Eichsfeld State of the Archbishops of Mainz to Heiligenstadt in 1540, Rusteberg Castle lost its importance. The two-storey baroque building erected as an official building in the middle of the 18th century was the reason for the final abandonment of Rusteberg Castle. The building material was obtained by demolishing the castle. With the completion of the castle, the following archbishopric bailiffs for the office of Rusteberg are proven:

  • 1748–1789 Franz Wilhelm Haber
  • 1789–1801 Anselm Maximilian Haber

The Haber family had held the office since 1708. After the office building came into Prussian ownership at the beginning of the 19th century , the owners changed several times. It was last owned by the von Alvensleben family from 1879 to 1945 .

Modern extensions

After the property was expropriated in 1945 by the “Democratic Land Reform” , it was used as a hospital. On October 1, 2008, the specialist clinic's consortium inaugurated two more new wards so that they can occupy sixty therapy places with young people who have drug, alcohol and medication problems. The service provider is the Deutsche Rentenversicherung Mitteldeutschland .

Worth seeing

In the immediate vicinity of the official building there are two former baptismal fonts from surrounding villages. From the plateau you have a view of the upper Leine valley and the adjacent mountain ranges. The ascent from Marth to the castle ruins leads directly past the area.
