Finelle dolmen

The Dolmen of Finelle (also called Dolmen 1 of Septfonds ) is located south of the Chemin de Finelle road , west of Septfonds near Caussade in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

description

The dolmen, which opens to the east and has no remains of a hill, consists of the two 4.0 m long side plates, the end stone and the oblique capstone. The left side stone is tilted a little inwards. The chamber measures approximately 3.0 x 2.0 meters.

context

Most of Septfonds' 15 dolmens are located on the Oardennes plateau, near Finelle (7) and Bartalbenque (6), due to the need for large limestone slabs for their construction. Moussac and Charles' plants are less conveniently located. The Septfonds dolmens belong to the group of around 800 dolmens in the Quercy .

Nearby are the Peyrelevade dolmen (dolmen 7 by Septfonds), the Dolmen de Caux-Vieilles (dolmen 4 by Septfonds) and the Tombe du Géant . The starting point was the dolmen of Causse-Bas (Dolmen 3 by Septfonds).
