The dolmen of Peyrelevade (also called Dolmen 2 by Septfonds ) is located on the Chemin des Dolmens road west of Septfonds near Caussade in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The dolmen is still in its cairn of about 15.0 m in diameter made of loose stones. The approximately 5.0 × 4.0 m capstone lies on a chamber with a length of approximately 4.0 m and a width of 2.0 m, which consists of the usual two large side plates and the end stone. However, these are located below the earth's surface. The chamber opens to the east.

context

Most of Septfonds' 15 dolmens are located on the Oardennes plateau, near Finelle (7) and Bartalbenque (6) because of the need for large limestone slabs for their construction. The Septfonds dolmens belong to the group of around 800 dolmens in the Quercy .

Nearby are the Finelle dolmen (Dolmen 7 by Septfonds), the Dolmen de Caux-Vieilles (Dolmen 4 by Septfonds) and the Tombe du Géant . The starting point is the Causse-Bas Dolmen (Dolmen 3 by Septfonds).
