The dolmen of La Palein is located on the edge of the forest on the Causse Corrézin plateau , south of Saint-Cernin-de-Larche in the Corrèze department in the French region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine in a long hill. In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The simple dolmen ( French dolmen simple ) is made of limestone . It consists of three large preserved bearing stones and the rugged ceiling slab and is still largely enclosed by the mound material.

The first excavation took place in 1865; Charcoal, fragments of bone and a few pieces of iron were found.

A (now broken) cross was erected at the western end of the hill and is evidence of the Christianization of the dolmen. Another tumulus is ten meters away.

The dolmen has been classified as a monument historique since 1910 .

Nearby are the Buffovent dolmens and the dolmen de la Chassagne .
