The dolmen of Schülldorf in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein was examined by G. Schäfer in 1975. The Schülldorf complex was visible as a flat elevation with burnt flint and granite fragments on a slope inclined to the south. The complex is probably a polygonal dolmen of the funnel beaker culture (TBK), which was built between 3500 and 2800 BC. BC originated.

description

The north-east-south-west oriented megalithic bed was about 40 m long, 8-10 m wide and 0.15 m high. The outer boundary was roughly determined by the footprints of edging stones. Before the mound of earth was filled in, in which there were an astonishing number of stones, the old surface had been removed. The mound consisted of podsolized , fine sand, weakly humic soil.

The chamber lay transversely to the longitudinal axis of the megalithic bed and was about 2.8 × 2.2 m inside. In a lower subgrade six 0.30-0.35 m deep stand traces were observed bordered a round-to-oval surface. Remains of the intermediate masonry lay in situ between the scuff marks . The entrance was probably in a gap about a meter wide in the southeast.

The sunk bottom of the grave was paved with pebbles . The paved area was adapted to the bearing stone footprints and protruded between the footprints. On the pavement was a layer of burnt flint up to 0.15 m thick . Remnants of a clay mantle interspersed with broken flint pieces were preserved from the external stabilization.

Finds

On the flint fill of the chamber were seven cross-edged arrowheads and four flint blades, two objects made of amber and shards of an ornate funnel cup and an amphora. Five cross-edged arrowheads and a broken blade were sieved out of the bed. A bronze spiral not in situ was found between two shoulder tracks in the north .

In the edge of the hill to the east of the chamber, numerous, mostly deeply engraved shards, a round scraper and several flakes were found on an area of around four meters in diameter at the base of the hill. A second, less concentrated, broken fragment, six meters in diameter, lay southeast of the chamber. A tub-shaped stone packing with a pile of burned flint, without any additions, lay in the east on the outside of the long bed. This makes it likely that this tomb is younger than the rest of the complex. The shape of the stone packing and the burned flint indicate that the grave complex could belong to the individual grave culture .
