Dolores J. Schendel

Dolores Jean Schendel (* 1947 in Hamilton , Montana ) is an American immunologist . She is known for her work on T-cell- based and personalized forms of cancer immunotherapy .

Schendel earned a BA in Biology from Macalester College in 1969 and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1974. in genetics . As a postdoctoral fellow , she worked in immunology at University College London and the Sloan-Kettering Institute . Since 1978 she has been a research assistant in immunology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , where she qualified as a professor in 1986 and was appointed professor of immunology in the same year.

After her retirement in 1998, Schendel was head of the Institute for Molecular Immunology at the Helmholtz Zentrum München until 2013 . She then founded Trianta Immunotherapies . Since its takeover by Medigene in 2014, she has been Chief Research and Development Officer ( CSO) of the listed biotechnology company Medigene , and since 2016 also CEO.
