Fra Domenico Paganelli (* 1545 in Faenza ; † February 20, 1624 ibid) was an Italian clergyman of the Dominican order and architect at the transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque .

Life

Domenico Paganelli entered the Dominican order in his hometown Faenza at the age of 17 and worked as an architect after studying Artes at the University of Bologna until his death. His most important works include the Palazzo Valentini (formerly Imperiali) in Rome , built from 1583 to 1585, the Church of the Trinity in Castel Bolognese , built from 1613 to 1616, the fountain system, the Fontana monumentale, cast according to his designs by PP Jacometti the Piazza della Liberta in Faenza, built from 1619 to 1621; and the Chapel of the Madonna del Fuoco in the Cathedral of Forli , built from 1619 to 1636. Paganelli's Torre dell'Orologio on the Piazza del Popolo in Faenza was destroyed and during the Second World War rebuilt true to the original after the war.

After the death mask, a wax bust was made in 1624, which is now kept in the Museo Civico in Faenza.
