The Dominican Summer League is a minor league baseball league that is played in the Dominican Republic . The league was founded in 1985. After the end of the Venezuelan Summer League after the 2015 season, it is the only Latin American rookie league.

The league consists of 44 teams, which are divided into six divisions. With the exception of the DSL Indians / Brewers , each team in the DSL is associated with a team major league franchise. The Cardinals , Cubs , Diamondbacks , Dodgers , Mets , Phillies , Pirates , Rangers , Rays , Red Sox , Rockies , Royals and Tigers form two teams in the Dominican Summer League.

The 72-game 2019 season began on June 1 and ended on August 24. The playoffs began on August 26th.
