Dominicus Mettenleiter

Dominicus Mettenleiter (also Domenicus ; * May 20, 1822 in Tannhausen ; † May 2, 1868 in Regensburg ) was a German Roman Catholic clergyman , theologian , church musician and musicologist .

Life

Mettenleiter was the son of an elementary school teacher. He studied theology and philosophy and was awarded a Dr. phil. et theol. PhD . In 1850 he came to the Collegiate Church of the Old Chapel in Regensburg as vicar and organist , where his brother Johann Georg Mettenleiter was already active as a church musician. During this time he began his writing work. In addition to his work as a pastor, theologian and organist, he wrote works on the history of music as well as dramas and stories. He stayed in Regensburg until the end of his life.
