Dominik Distelberger (born March 16, 1990 in Scheibbs ) is an Austrian athlete who specializes in all-around competitions.

successes

Distelberger holds several Austrian records in youth sports, including the eightfight, set up on May 26th or 27th 2007 in Maribor with 5987 points (age group U18), in the 110-meter hurdles , also set up in Maribor on May 27th, 2008 with 13, 84 s (also U18) and in the same discipline in the age group U20 with 13.83 s, placed on July 11, 2009 in Kapfenberg .

In 2012 Distelberger became national champion in the all-around and long jump in the hall, as well as vice national champion in the 60-meter hurdles, as well as in the 60-meter run in the hall and qualified for the European Championships in Helsinki , where he was 15th out of about 30 starters reached. With 7611 points, however, he missed the limit for the 2012 Olympic Games .

In 2016, Distelberger qualified for the Olympic Games for the first time with 8175 points . There he finished 19th with 7954 points.

In 2018 he took part in the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and finished 8th in the heptathlon with 5908 points.

National successes

Distelberger is multiple Austrian national champion in hall and open air, including twice in the decathlon.

Award

At the end of 2014 Distelberger was honored together with the pole vaulter Kira Grünberg as Austria's athlete of the year 2014 ("Austrian Athletics Award"). Fans, coaches and the media have chosen the two athletes as the winners.

Personal best

Distelberger's personal bests are in the decathlon at 8175 points, which he achieved in 2016 at the Götzis all- around meeting , in the heptathlon in the hall at 6063 points on March 5, 2017 in Belgrade and in the eight fight (U18) at 5987 points.
