Dominik Stahlberg
Dominik Stahlberg (born November 20, 1977 in Hildesheim ) is a German sculptor and installation artist .
life and work
Dominik Stahlberg completed his training as a stone sculptor in 2004. He has been working in Germany and Italy since 2005 . His sculptures are mainly made of marble and synthetic materials, which he combines with a patina . His expression is provocative, funny at first glance, but does not keep the viewer away from the tragedy and sadness of his objects. The material used, the marble, can no longer be recognized as such after it has been worked by the artist. The patination of the surface creates the impression that it is a synthetic material. Dominik Stahlberg mainly works with topics from society and politics.
In 2006, together with Frank Breidenbruch, he realized the reconstruction of the sculpture “ The Heavenly Falls ” for the city of Wuppertal .
He took part in several international sculpture symposiums, including in Maʿalot-Tarshiha in Israel, Cavaion Veronese in Italy, the wax sculpture symposium in Ubon Ratchathani / Thailand and the sculpture symposium in Cipolletti / Argentina. In 2007 Dominik Stahlberg organized the multicultural project “No-Excuse 3x3” in collaboration with the Vredescentrum, Antwerp .
Since August 2010 he has been an involved artist at NO! Art . This art movement was founded in 1960 in New York by the artists Boris Lurie, Sam Goodmann and Stanley Fisher. More than 50 artists have been involved in the NO! Art movement since the 1960s, including Enrico Baj, Wolf Vostell and Natalia E. Woytasik.
