The Dominion Breweries ( DB for short ) are considered to be the largest breweries in New Zealand .

history

It was founded in 1929 as "Waitemata Brewerey" by J. Couttes in Otahuhu , New Zealand . The company's headquarters are still located there today. In 1969 Taranaki Brewerey, New Plymouth , and TUI Brewerey , Mangatainoka , were taken over. Dominion Breweries followed a year later (this name is now used for the entire group); therefore today there are breweries in: Otahuhu, Mangatainoka, Washdyke and Greymouth .

Today the company belongs to Asia Pacific Breweries Limited , a Heineken subsidiary based in Singapore .
