Donald Roy Sidle (born June 21, 1946 in Dallas , Texas , † May 25, 1987 in Texas) was an American basketball player .

college

Sidle attended the University of Oklahoma from 1964 to 1968 and played for the basketball team, the Sooners . The team played in the Big Eight Conference , but never reached the postseason during the time under coach Bob Stevens and in his last season under coach John MacLeod either. He himself achieved good performance in the 1967 and 1968 seasons. As a result, he received several All-American awards.

ABA

In 1968 he was drafted in both the NBA and the ABA , in the 1-5 round of the Miami Floridians . In the NBA, however, he was never used and from then on played in the ABA for the Miami Floridians . With the Floridians he reached the play-offs once and lost there against the Pacers in the division final. Then he moved to the Denver Rockets . He left after a relatively unsuccessful year and switched to the Pacers. The Pacers gave him little playing time during the season, so he switched to the Memphis Pros during the season and thus missed the championship. He wasn't really successful with the pros either and ended his career after the season.
