Donald Robertson
Donald Robertson ( Donald McNab Robertson; born October 7, 1905 in Glasgow , † June 14, 1949 ibid) was a British marathon runner .
In 1930 he was ninth in the English Championship in 2:55:56 h on his debut. In 1932 he was with his personal best of 2:34:33 h English champion, but could not take part in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles due to financial difficulties .
After defending the English Championship in 1933 and 1934, he won silver for Scotland at the British Empire Games in London in 1934 . In 1936 he won his fourth English championship title in 2:35:03 h and was seventh at the Olympic Games in Berlin in 2:37:07 .
In 1937 he was again English champion and sixth in the French championship in 2:37:20. The following year he was fourth at the British Empire Games in Sydney in 1938 and Northumberland champions. In 1939 the sixth English championship title followed in 2:35:37.
In 1946 he became the first Scottish champion and English runner-up. The following year he defended the Scottish title and finished third in the English Championship.
He died of a pulmonary embolism at the age of 43 .
