The Metten Danube Bridge is a 614 m long motorway bridge in Lower Bavaria . The structure crosses the Danube between the Metten junction and the Deggendorf motorway junction of the A3 federal motorway at river kilometer 2290.12 . The bridge was built between 1978 and 1981 at a cost of around 25 million DM.

The structural engineer was Herbert Schambeck .

superstructure

The prestressed concrete bridge has eight spans with spans of 68.85 m - 145.00 m - 5 × 68.00 m - 60.00 m. The superstructure is a 3-web, two-cell prestressed concrete box girder with a constant construction height of 4.2 m and a deck width of 30.0 m.

The superstructure of the 145 m wide river opening is guyed with the help of a prestressed concrete belt over a 33.22 m high pylon . The pylon is arranged in the middle of the cross section above a support. This special type of construction of the cable-stayed bridge is also known as a bridle strap bridge . The rein is a prestressed concrete tension band and has a concrete cross-section of 160 × 135 cm. In this, tensioned strand tendons are pressed into ducts.

Construction method

The bridge was first constructed using the incremental launching method with auxiliary props in the middle of the field in section lengths of 17 m. Then the pylon was erected with climbing formwork and the reins were scaffolded, reinforced and concreted. The reins were finally tensioned by dismantling the auxiliary yokes, and finally the ducts could be pressed.
